The Burqa Dresses are created by Beshtar, a social enterprise from Afghanistan. The inspiration for Beshtar comes from the resilience of a people living in a country that has been at war for more than 30 years. All the products used in the collections are textiles and items taken from everyday life in Afghanistan and reinterpreted in a modern and contemporary fashion.  The profits from the Beshtar's collection go towards various charity's that work for women's empowerment, education, vocational training etc. The charities supported by Beshtar are Zaher Shah Foundation, AWEC, Gardens For Life and Aschiana.

Ikat, an ancient dyeing technique in which threads are dyed to a design before weaving, is used to make very modern jackets, waistcoats and dresses. Silk warp ikat can be woven in varying colour combinations to create many different motifs and shapes.
