Here at Fashion ComPassion, we love finding out about new initiatives and programs which support up and coming social enterprises and entrepreneurs in times of austerity. We thought we would take the time, in our latest blog post, to look at one such initiative from Pakistan: The Invest2Innovate program.
Pakistan is a country filled with endless business potential, its entrepreneurial spirit evident wherever you go. Though the country may be faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, those same problems can mean exciting opportunities and solutions, particularly for new entrepreneurs.
Young entrepreneurs have the power to challenge the status quo, to change the environment around them. But more often than not, they lack the support & essential resources to turn their ideas into reality.
That’s where Invest2Innovate comes in.
Invest2Innovate (i2i) is a pioneering funding program which works with up and coming social enterprises and entrepreneurs in Pakistan. They identify early-stage social entrepreneurs and train them through the i2i Accelerator, an intensive four-month “business bootcamp” designed to equip entrepreneurs with the essential skills needed for developing businesses.
Once they have finished the bootcamp, i2i connects the entrepreneurs to i2i Angels, their global investor network, and tracks their social enterprises' growth and position in their respective markets. i2i also consults with local and global organisations to strengthen the entrepreneurship environment in these markets, developing innovative workshops, curriculum, networks, and competitions.
After the pilot of the i2i Accelerator was successfully completed in January of this year, i2i are now looking for to raise $15,000 in order to run the i2i Accelerator program again, from September 2013 to January 2014. This time, the i2i team want to expand their Accelerator program so that they can help more entrepreneurs in both Lahore and Karachi as well as improving & the program's curriculum. They has set up an Indiegogo crowdsourcing page, which can be found here. All the details about i2i Accelerator program and how the money raise will help new social enterprises entrepreneurs are on that page, so please check it and considering donating!
i2i thinks about the big picture, the broader framework that is needed not only for existing enterprises, but to foster the growth of entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. We really like i2i’s concept and the way the program has been implemented. We wish them the best of luck for the future.
The i2i's Indeigogo page for their 2013-2014 Accelerator program can be found here.
