Ayesha Mustafa, founder and director of Fashion ComPassion, recently spoke on the panel of the 'Social Business: The Power of Business to Create Social Change' event, hosted by BNP Paribas.
The event started promptly at 6:15pm with Maya Mehta, BNP Paribas spokesperson and panel moderator, making an introduction about social businesses and their importance in the UK. Ayesha Mustafa then kicked off the discussion by introducing Fashion ComPassion and talking about her company's ethos. Representatives from 'Who Made Your Pants?', 'From Babies With Love', 'Ethical Art' and 'NaviStar Legal' also gave introductory presentations about their social businesses and talked about their vision for the future.
The discussion then turned to topics relating to social business, including how social businesses could measure their social impact and whether a social business could be a for profit enterprise. The panellists were also asked about their own experiences and how they had overcome the challenges which faced their companies.
The event was well attended both by BNP Paribas employees and invited guests and it was truly inspiring to hear from the other panellists. People also enjoyed perusing the various showcase stands with products from each of the social businesses.
